JBK - Adventure School Programs

School Programs keep us busy through the month of November and this group have just completed their 9th annual 4 day Sea Kayaking Expedition with JBK Co. Fantastic Weather conditions saw the group of 16 paddle to their basecamp on the St Georges Basin to enjoy above average temperatures and superb paddling in downwind conditions. These trips really bring out the best in the young paddlers and we see a real growth in their abilities over the four days. Culminating in an open sea paddle on Jervis Bay the group spent their last day on the southern rim of the Jervis Bay Marine Park, swimming snorkelling and enjoying the clear water and World Class Sea Kayaking Environment.

JBK Education - Womens Program

Last weekend our popular Women In Kayaking Program was conducted by Tracy Garner and the weekend went off with our participants gaining a high level of competence in varying weather conditions. Jervis Bay put on a show with Humpback Whales and marine creatures sighted throughout the weekend. As Nicci Riley put it : -

 amazing.  JBK's equipment, organisation and
support are first class.It is wonderful to spend
 a weekend with like-minded females and to come
out the other end with a new skill and confidence.

JBK Manufacture - Mega Surf Kayaks

Following the success of Mega Surf Kayaks Manufacture in Australia we have embarked on another exciting project. A month or so ago we took receipt of two High end Patterns from Mega UK for the Mega Surf Kayaks in Composite Slite Construction - Megatron and Neutron . Moulds are curently under construction and we expect to see a proto in the next couple of weeks.

JBK Store Update

Like a giant Mechano Set the RSJs are added to create the supports and floor and roof members. Awning girders were laid today and good wether is seeing continual progress.

JBK Education - Assessment Day

What a day, it doesnt get much better than this.Sea Leader candidate Mick Greaves spent the morning demonstrating his sea kayaking and rescue skills last thursday. Perfect weather, and mild Sea Conditions saw Ross Boardman conducting the Assessment whilst on a Sea Paddle both inside and outside Jervis Bay. The Sea Cliffs of Bowen Island are an ideal place to simulate real sea conditions. JBK Course coordinator/Sea Kayaking Instructor " Tracy Garner " and new staff member Craig Rinaldi joined in the day for a refreshing look at the outer edge of Jervis Bay.
During rescue simulation off Bowen Island a female humpback and calf edged within 10 metres of patient Ross Boardman who was in the water with a simulated dislocated shoulder. A very succesful day indeed.

JBK Women In Kayaking Programs

JBK are proud to announce a new program to our already wide range of Kayaking Programs. There has long been a need for specific activities that cater for Women that generally identify with different learning outcomes than men. Our Women In Kayaking Programs provide an avenue for you to achieve a level of confidence that you may otherwise not attain in a mixed environment. Attention given to handling, lifting techniques and overall correct technique that can enable you as a Kayaker to get the most out of this amazing lifestyle. Around 60% of our client base is female and we have 3 professional Female Instructors ( who live to kayak ) to guide you each step of the way. So if it's Calm Water or Sea Paddling this weekend will establish the basis for sound efficient technique and safety, in a fun, relaxed social setting.

JBK Huskisson Store Update

October 6th and 7th saw the arrival of over 40 pre cast slabs to the site and a crane lifeted each into position. Props adjust the level of the walls and JBK Huskisson store takes on a whole new look. Both our store and the 4 units above afford a brilliant view of Jervis Bay overlooking the Whitesands Park.

Slab Poured and looking real back in Late August. Rain hampering efforts to get moving on the project. Great weather since and Pre- Cast Slab walls installed on the 6th and 7th of October.

It's been a long wait but 3 months of rain in a drought area couldn't have been predicted, but we've had considerable movement on our new store. The first sod of dirt was turned back in June and then it began to rain and rain.Foundations took some time,and completed a couple of months ago then the slab was poured, and yesterday it all started happening. Over 40 pre-cast slabs craned into position and our new store is really underway.

JBK Manufacture - Maverick Surf Kayaks

We have just taken delivery of a another batch of Mega Maverick Surf Kayaks and have spent the last week manufacturing and fitting out prior to shipping them. Our new range of colours look superb and will no doubt look great on a wave.

JBK Surf Kayaking Trip

JBK Team back from a two week Surf Kayaking Trip on the NSW North Coast. Brilliant weather and swell conditions saw us all surfing daily enjoying perfect right handers and warm water temps. We had the chance to meet and surf with European Surf Kayakers Sean and Brigitta Egan, displaying techniques that positioned them in the world Rankings at Costa Rica World Surf Kayaking Championships in 2005. Tracy Garner taking every opportunity to perfect her technique and get some serious training for the 2007 Worlds in Spain.

JBK Co Huskisson Store - Building Has Begun

JBK Team are delighted to see the first sod of soil turned on the new Huskisson premises that will be ready for our 10th Anniversary. JBK have been servicing the region with Professional Advice, Sales and Sea Kayaking activities since 1996. This is a huge leap forward for Kayaking in the Region, one of the largest retail premises in the Jervis Bay Area. 200sq mtrs of floor space, huge range of Hire equipment, Courses and Outdoor adventure Gear".Located opposite the shores of Jervis Bay in the heart of Huskisson our new store will feature 3 times the floor space of our current store. Keep up to date with construction as we Photograph and Blog the stages right up until completion. JBK's Vincentia store ( open 6 days ) will remain our base until and beyond completion. Architects impression of our sensational new store. Reality by December 2006.SUMMER 2006/2007 set to be the biggest ever.

Surf Kayaking - Bay Swell at Huskisson Spit

Tracy Garner - Following the big seas in April the sand spit at Huskisson has produced some perfect waves for surf kayaking. Tracy makes for the break in the Mega Prowler. Four consecutive weeks of consistant swell kept all of our staff busy on their time off surfing in our range Mega Surf Kayaks.

JBK Staff - Sea Kayaking in Tasmania

Ross Boardman , just returned from successful 2 week Sea Kayaking Trip on the Tasmanian East Coast. Ross, brother Brett, and father Mervyn bonded as only family can as we got off the beaten track in some rugged and wind swept regions of the coast. We were able to access some of the most scenic paddling destinations on Freycinet, Tasman Peninsula and Recherche Bay on the Sth East Cape. Brilliant Sea Kayaking and the Sea Cliffs on the Tasman Peninsula dwarfed our Sea kayaks as we accessed some of the Australia's best scenery.
