SATURDAY MARCH 8TH 2008 - 7 MILE BEACH GERROA NSWGrab your surf kayak and make your way to 7 Mile Beach Gerroa for a fun filled adrenalin charged day of light hearted competition and a free surf session to display your latest move.
On offer will be a day of fun and plenty of action with an open category consisting of a Competition of 20 minute heats of 2 – 4 Surf Kayakers. Each heat will be scored and judged by Tracy Garner ( current World No 5 ) and Ross Boardman ( Mega Surf Kayaks Australia ).
Points are scored based on Surf Maneuvers made in the power section of the wave. Scoring is based on the top 3 waves of each heat (maximum 10 waves per heat). The top 2 surfers in each heat will progress to the next round culminating in a final.
Judges will be looking for range of other skills including wave selection, correct surf etiquette and length of ride, and end maneuvers.
We will have a focus on making the day fun whilst adhering to some necessary safety rules, but we expect to see some up and coming surfers ripping it up in a relaxed and great social atmosphere.
Surfers should present a surf kayak from the High Performance Class.
